Christmas tweets

www.christmastweets.co.uk
This twitter visualiser has been produced to scan worldwide tweets for festive words to determine what the meaning of Christmas is in 2009.

There are four possible meanings each represented by a festive character:
Commercialism - Santa Claus
Credit Crunch - Scrooge
Religion - Jesus
Christmas Spirit - Snowman
Meet the characters and find out the meaning of Christmas this year at:
http://www.christmastweets.co.uk

Produced by UK digital agency Twentysix, this project manipulates the twitter API to detect certain words, the site is built in Flash and uses the papervision engine to render a 3D globe and 3D characters.

Credits are as follows:

Concept and art direction - Will Jones (myself)
Flash build - Ryan Michael, Richard Sykes
Character design - Adam Campion, Nik Cann
Character animation - Gav Cannon
Backend setup - Luke Brown, Matt Pallatt

Here are a few more shots of the artwork:

A bit of illustration

When asked recently to produce an illustrated character this is what I came up with. It has little to do with me other than the face and a hate for comic sans. I've never worn tweed.

The image can be seen 3D also.

Out Of Range Exhibition

Last week saw the opening of a photography exhibition in London titled 'Out Of Range' which I branded and provided a website for. The launch night was a success and it's always nice to see your work in glossy print, dotted around Brick Lane, and on enormous 6foot banners outside the venue;)
The site is at http://www.outofrange.co.uk.
The exhibition runs until 22nd June at The Old Rag Factory, 16-18 Heneage Street, London E1. It's free admission and is worth a visit.
